Project Description:
Stonefly lodge is designed to provide a mountain lodge atmosphere fused with a warm family atmosphere. The design brief required maximum use of timber that would be milled from the site and the incorporation of stonework that was available at the property
A theme of exposed timber applied to a bolted timber beam and post structure forms the base for the lodge.
The Owner undertook 3 years in the planning and development phase focusing on using the latest technology to improve the efficiency of the building and lessen its impact on the environment. The building is completely off the national grid and features a wind, hydro and solar power energy collection system. It features, passive solar designs, alternative heat sources and a biolytic waste treatment and permaculture garden.
