Project Description:
This 640 m2 home has been build by Natural Log Homes in Geraldine. It is handcrafted using naturally shaped Douglas fir logs with average diameter of 350 mm. The logs are tightly fitted together by experienced craftsman.
Once the work has been completed in our construction yard in Geraldine, we pull the building apart, and load all of the log pieces into 12m containers. Then transport them to the building site. It required 7 men and 7 days to reassemble, and another 5 months for finished work.
Log homes have very little impact on environment. They use carbon-neutral wood as the main building material. The building process is very energy efficient as all the work is done by hand. 99% of the whole log is utilized. Waste is very minimal, as bark is being used in gardens and wooden off cuts for heating.
